The last time that I was in hospital, I was told that I could not have decent food brought in, as the hospital did not know if the source may or may not provide food poisoning!!!! I couldn't phone a curry !!!
They even took away the ear phones for the hospital radio set in there efforts for cleanliness. The hospital had not been high on the list of "clean" ones. I pointed out that the screen round my bed had blood streaks on it, but it was never changed during the three weeks that I was there.!
The reading light blew above my bed. I was told, by the aux. nurse, who swapped mine with one above an empty bed, that the procedure was to get the ward Sister to send a request to maintenance department. They would come up to evaluate the "repair." They then had to request a bulb from stores. When the said bulb was delivered to stores they would then come back and change it !!!! it can take a week, she said. Perhaps if they did away with rubbish like that they would have money to buy decent cleaning equipment.
In the time that I was there, the floor received a damp mop wipe over and a rub with a vibrating pad machine, which put a smile on some cleaners faces !!! That is not cleaning.!!!
So why were they against a bought meal, from a kitchen, which is cleaned down with a steam cleaning machine and scrubbed out every night, when they only wiped the floor?? This cleanliness bee in the bonnet that some places have is bordering on insane!!
If visitors are allowed in they can bring germs in. Staff seem to wear trainers all the time, these days, which they come to work, wearing! Their street clothes are worn under uniforms. All of these can bring in germs, too.
To forbid food is ridiculous!!
