Dismantling nuke plants to cost €18 billion - The Local
Sure but this is at today's prices. How long will it take to demolish them all? The Germans have been demolishing one on the Baltic at Lubmin for 17 years and it still ain't done. The radioactive rubbish has been moved, on the heavy lift vessel Aura, to Windscale in Cumbria England, during most of the Summer. The crap was encased in concrete. The aura has now finished the contract, I believe and is in Amsterdam.
The Scottish plant at Dounray in Caithness, way up in the North of Scotland is to be demolished, soon. The Scottish Government have been chuntering about building a new railway from Caithness to Windscale, at a huge cost into the multi millions. Who wants trains of nuclear waste whizzing along through the Scottish countryside????
Why not use the Aura? If it sinks then the concrete flasks will too !!!
