Africa is a continent that the West has never really had much success in taking over by influencing governments of the countries which were not outright dictatorships. China and to a lesser extent,Russia, have been the two super powers who have had great influence in Angola and Congo for example.
Now Yemen, a British Protectorate until Independence was gained, has become a hub from which to launch onward into Africa. Aden, strangely enough, was the port where steamships bunkered up with coal for onward passenger and freight voyages to India. Warships and supply vessels used the port, too, when the British were embroiled in their version of the Afghan Wars.
Now the Afghan War has come to Yemen, as it is claimed that military style training camps exist there, to train freedom fighters for Afghanistan and other places.
