Tricks of the trade they try to keep secret: Britain's Got Talent producers are investigated... | Mail Online
This show is a con from start to finish. I posted ages ago that the format had already been done many years ago. Hughie Green had Opportunity Knocks, on BBC, which he got from America and it was followed by Stars in your Eyes, on ITV, with Norman Vaughan.
Both shows had public voting. So all that Simon Cowel has done is taken the format back off the shelf, get the dust off and revamp it a bit. It is a very cheap show as the "talent" don't get paid for their peak viewing performances.
It follows the lines of Victorian Music Halls which evolved into Variety Shows like Sunday Night at the London Palladium. You have a warm up act, a novelty act, then a comic and then onward to the star turn. In the Victorian music halls people expressed their opinion by throwing stuff at the "turns." Perhaps that aspect should be brought back !!!.
