I really don't think that they have thought this through. There seems to be a rush to get this Law in place for the new season starting. Filming people's lips moving does not constitute them singing!! Lip readers cannot determine whether a person is singing or just mouthing the words, silently. Under Scottish Law, two cops must witness an incident. This basic principle means that two cops must stand next to a person to ensure that he/she is actually singing instead of miming or just moving their lips. Unless the cops can also identify the words of the song, the person may be singing along with an I pod !!!!! Which songs are sectarian and which are not is yet another problem?
It just ain't going to work unless there are two cops to every spectator all of the time!!! Any person singing can just fall silent as cops approach or he/she can sing a Bay City Rollers song while cheering his/her team.
Personally, I would rather that they all got their tribal chest beating, done during two hours of football, than them bringing it out onto the streets. Let them sing away, inside the park, but certainly not outside on the public highways.
