This was made into a film. These papers showed the lengths to which America would go to invent good stories about the winning of the War in Vietnam, when it was, in truth, rubbish !!! Daniel Ellsberg was working on them and went to Vietnam to see for himself and prepare a report, as he saw things. His report was classified, as nobody wanted the truth to get out. all copies were numbered and kept in locked safes. Eventually he could not read his own report as he was not security cleared to read classified material of the level given to it!!!
He eventually risked all and copied the true figures and stories from a numbered copy of his report on how America was being beaten by guerrillas in black pajamas. He got them all published in the newspapers and was arrested for leaking the details, after a huge witch hunt took place to find the mole.
