Marijuana is only banned because the word Hemp was replaced by the word Marijuana in an America Act proposed and passed in the early hours of the morning in 1926. The politicians knew all about Hemp and would never have banned it but by this devious factually correct,substitution, Marijuana was banned in USA and the World followed their lead. It really is that simple.
America had gone to Saudi Arabia to actually drill for water to turn the deserts green. However the found OIL by mistake. When they realised just how much OIL they had underneath the sand they formed Aramco to get the OIL out for the increasing automobile market and all of oil's other uses most of which could be covered by Hemp much more cheaply!!! So Hemp, which was grown all over USA, got the heave and in came oil to replace it.They even wasted huge amounts of money in compensation for Hemp farmers who were forced to grow something else. So Hemp was existing and known about and much cheaper to produce and deliver than the unknown oil from the middle East.
The health benefits of Marijuana fills loads of books. M.E.,Arthritis, Depression, Anorexia and on and on can all be helped by Mary Jane. Of course, as it is a plant, Big Pharma cannot take out a patent on it and make loads of money. Recent fears, on their part, has resulted in herbal shops and Chinese medicine shops almost having to close down and go underground in Europe. It was proposed that they could stay open only if they paid £100,000 per year for a license to trade!!! This was scrapped very near to the deadline of may 1st 2011. Many shops had closed down prior to this change but herbal medicine is now effectively banned in any case as there is a lack of case studies and evidence. Patient's views don't count!
Should it be legalised and distributed via High Street chemists it would cut out the drug dealers who obliterate it with rubbish. In it's oily solid form dealers fill the mix up with candle wax, brick dust and dung to name but a few of the substances which the put in to make more weight and hence more profits. A dealer buying a nine ounce bar can make 100% profit by breaking bulk and selling it on in quarters or in half ounces. a kilo gives you four bars which means 36 quarters at £15 a time or £540 per bar which can be bought for £300/£350. It has risen in price over the past few years due to delivery costs increasing for it to be smuggled into the Uk. Five or six years ago a bar could be purchase for about £280. With a little slight of hand or dodgy scales 100% profit is made easily. so by adding 20% VAT on to it any Government could make a tidy sum and release Police and Customs officers to carry out other work in stopping people smuggling for the sex trade for instance.
Nobody has ever died of an overdose and it is very difficult to be violent while being happy, giggling and laughing.
