Nissan Electric Car.

Nissan are calling their new electric car "Leaf." Initially it will be imported to America from Japan prior to production starting in Smyma, Tennessee. In America, it will sell for $32,780 with a "green" tax rebate to owners of $7,500 it makes the net cost $25,280. This is much less than the average car price in USA. It goes on sale towards the end of 2010 and will be the first 5 seat electric car capable of going on the highway.
Worldwide production is expected to reach 200,000 units per year by 2013. Hope they fit it with a loud horn as it will be very quiet.
However it will only travel 100 miles on a charge and it takes about eight hours to carry out a full re charge on a 220 volt outlet system. Nissan say that a quick charger will do an 80% charge in 30 minutes. A deal has been made with the cities of Portland, Oregon and Washington D.C. to install a network of charging sites. Otherwise you've had it!!!
