Royal Mail bribery warning: Postmen told Christmas tips could mean jail | Mail Online

If any PAYE worker gets a cash gratuity or a benefit in kind, then these tips and the odd roll and bacon are suppose to be added on a tax Form as extra unearned income. This is then added to the regular income. The same thing happens in reverse.
Should a person be self employed in addition to being a worker then any losses that happen in self employment can be claimed against PAYE tax. So if a five day week civil servant is a taxi driver at weekends and say two evenings per week then he declares his self employment and his regular employment. The two are added together or may be treated separately. Any losses may be claimed, so why should any extra income, not be declared???
