About time too !! No fiddling with percentages at the last minute this time either. When the vote to go in was taken the Government realised they were going to loose it. Te people knew they were going to lose it and didn't bother to go and vote thinking that it was a forgone conclusion. Then the Government moved the goal posts to a percentage game as opposed to a straight yes or no vote.
Personally I would like a Law that forced all of the people to vote. Then they would be a real view of how the country viewed anything. This rubbish of people winning when they get 23% of a 30% turnout and win? To me, not only did they have 7% of the 30% against them, the other 70% of the electorate didn't care about supporting them either.
We have postal voting, the Internet and mobile phones, so the only reason not to have 100% voting is what?
A person could enter his/her national insurance number and vote on the net or text it in. One vote for one number, story ended. Sure, there will be multi voting with one family member pressurising the family. You get that just now! It would, however, do away with the multi occupancy voting card scam where you put up to 20 or 30 names down for one address on the electoral register and get a vote for every name. You can get credit cards for each name too, never mind just a vote, if you are very naughty!!!!
