So Edward 'Lee Harvey' Snowden has asked to stay in Russia. Going to Ecuador would entail a long flight, over water, accidents happen!!!
But what has he disclosed? He has said,what most knew already, that America taps phones and E mails,Telex traffic and the internet traffic. This has been going on since Echelon in the 1970's. Prism is the new toy. Fibre optic cables transfer information as light. By inserting a prism in the main routing, the light is diverted of at angles while still going on the main cable. This diverted signal can then be read.
Okay it was a secret but hardly a dangerous earth shattering one. Snowden has broadcast it and not given it solely to an enemy power. He has given nothing away exclusively. However, the main item makes him look good and folks will want to open him up. Suppose that he has a load of rubbish to impart,now??
