Corrupt private investigators targeted HM Revenue and Customs, BT and British Gas to access sensitive private data
A friend of mine once worked for Directory Enquiries, some years ago. Some staff were copying the data onto blank discs and selling them for £50 each !! In this computer age data can now be taken out onto a thumb drive, taken home and copied to disk, very easily.
I actually bought disks, from a marketing company, quite legally, which gave names, addresses and phone numbers of everybody in Britain! It was a compilation of the voters roll and the telephone book. Both of which are public access lists.
