The Grand National Race

Well it is the time of the year again when the most barbaric horse race takes place at Aintree in Liverpool. The race course is only opened once a year for this "meeting." The owners make enough profit not to bother opening again until next year.

The fences are the highest on any horse racing circuit and the distance travelled is the furthest of any horse race. Horses fall into fences and each other and some have to be killed. Why not kill the jockey too. That would be fun!!!

Horses love to run but I'm not so sure that they like to jump over things. I don't mind a straight forward race on the flat but I am against forcing the horses to jump over things just for spectators enjoyment.

So pull up a glass of Magners cider, it is still cheap, and cheer the jockey jumping instead of the horse.
