Many people in Scotland are prescribed Librium to stop them drinking. If a person takes alcohol on top of these tablets they just gotta get to a hospital....quick !!  This fear factor plus the tablets seems to be working for most people. Of course, a person can just stop taking the medicine and go on a bender which is actually worse than steady drinking.

I went from drinking a bottle and a half of Blue label vodka a day to nil, overnight!  At my Mother's funeral I had a talk to myself and said are you going to go right down the hill or not?  I decided to get my act together and went six months dry.  Nowadays, I rarely drink and when I do, it is no more than a couple of lagers.
