The cash was not for his gain but given to charity as donations. Any donations to a registered charity are normally deductible against taxes, so a donation may even have reduced a person's tax rate from higher down to normal. All of the donations, whether cajoled or voluntary, will do some good, somewhere, rather that going to the Revenue. So he was a bit naughty asking for them, but to me the guy did good.
