Tar macadam will be cracking and splitting due to frost in the ground and the hard packed icy snow. So expect many ruts and potholes when the snow clears away. This is especially bad for bikers and of course you should always watch out for a cuddly bundle encased in a tighter than skin lycra all in one boiler suit swerving at the last possible moment as they see a cavern in the road ahead, down which they must not go!
