Not before time too! These wonderful people dived into toxic dust and crap to save complete strangers at a huge incident and should not be paying a cent for health care for any problems that they contracted doing that work.
However the fear factor of financial reparation claims has invaded every Health and Safety office in the Western World.
In the UK firepersons and police officers will stand about watching people drown because they have no "water rescue" training. They must call out the rubber dinghy squad to try a rescue which can take hours. In another case they refused to put a ladder or a rope down a hole to save a woman who had fallen in. Why? They had no mountain rescue training! The lady died after they had all stood about for over SIX hours.!!! Luvly overtime payments all round!
