The President, who took over by coup d'etat after independence, has bolted out of the country, after ruling for over 23 years, possibly to France or Libya. Army has taken charge and is fighting with the police on the streets. The people support the army.. No air flights will take place. Family members of the President have been stopped from following him out of the country so he even bolted leaving the wife behind ! A curfew is in place.
The Prime Minister has just announced 1745 hrs GMT that he is now the civil power in charge.
Police stations are now burning as the police have been used to control the people by the President and are not generally liked for that reason.
