Unfortunately it also happens in Scotland as well Drug reps have visited doctors, on a regular basis,for decades. They push out their stall and hope to get the doctors prescribing by practically any means. Then chemists have no option, but to buy and stock at the price asked. There is no alternative until a new drug is more than ten years old,at which time,their exclusive right to produce is open to other companies and cheaper generic drugs appear.
