Gas costs you THREE times what the energy firms pay: Millions of households being ripped off after wholesale cost halves in six months | Mail Online



In the Uk there has been a project going on to put new gas boilers,central heating and cavity wall insulation put into homes, for free  British Gas are running it and apparently it is being paid for by the EU.

Local Councils have jumped at it in an effort to increase the value of their housing stock due to this modernisation.  Homes are also being re wired and titivated up, by having old broken lintels and slip sills replaced. Concrete entry steps are being squared up too.

Yes it all looked very good....on paper.   I,of course, refused all of it !!

Why should I turn my flat into a building site,move my furniture round and round, to increase the value of a rented flat ? Why should I assist my landlords to increase the value of their housing stock, when they have refused to do repairs for 15 years??  I already have electric central heating units....why change? Actually I never use them. I have two propane gas heaters. My boiler works fine....why change to a new style which, in Winter, will have huge problems. The overflow pipe, for the boiler, is not attached to the outflow of the sinks, inside. Instead, it goes directly outside. It will freeze up, which causes a system shut down necessitating an engineer call out and no heating, as the whole gas supply closes. Just wait until Winter,you'll see!!!

Although,eventually, the money will be re paid by Europe,the work has to be paid for by someone,as it goes along. Sub contractors have to be paid. Materials have to be paid for. Staff wages too. It is a nice little tax dodge as well.  All of these payments will be tax deductible, for the main contractor, British Gas thus reducing their tax bill.
