That makes them spaceships! Now get this Phobos is about 20 miles across and is partially hollow inside!!!
Both of these ships orbit Mars in a circular way which is impossible for a natural Moon which orbits eliptically. In addition, they are both being drawn down toward Mars, very slowly, by the weak gravity of Mars.
It is said that science fiction shows such as Lost in Space, Star Trek, Dr.Who and Star gate have all been preparing us all to accept that we are not alone in the Universe, Big movie blockbusters like Star Wars., War of the Worlds and Independence Day have done the same via the big screen. We have been programed to accept that there are others out there!
When Orson Welles did his War of the Worlds radio broadcast in 1928 the people of America d clogged up roads and other means of transport seeking to escape from cities which Welles was reporting were under attack for the beings from Space. The show went on for over three hours!
The Brookings Institute Report, written in 1958 and given to Eisenhower, discussed what would/could happen if our guys met their guys or the other plot that "they" arrived on Earth.
it was kept secret. Ike passed it to Kennedy and details began to come out in the early 1960's. Yes FIFTY years ago!!!
The Russians sent two capsules to investigate Phobos in the 1980's. One did not make it due to computer problems but he other did and sent back data drawn from infra red and radar scans among other experiments. the second one was wrecked too. A female Russian cosmonaut put out the story that it had been shot down and the news media laughed and ignored the story. The data was never public knowledge just as was intended. Now there is a capsule orbiting Mars which goes very very close to Phobos and loads of data is coming back from it.
Phobos is a structure and about one third hollow. Radar shows rooms, passageways, support beams and all the trappings of a space craft. The big question being where are the owners? Are they dead or in cryogenic pods waiting to be awakened? What knowledge is available within any "computers" that may be still working? What power system propelled it? etc., Etc.
Due to our "preparation" via films and TV it would be an easier pill for us to take if a public announcement is made now rather than could have happened 60 or 70 years ago at the time of Roswell..
A new Russian mission is set to go to Phobos and collect "stuff" from it to bring back. However the obvious problem of bringing back something that may kill us all looms large. Hence the mad building of space stations in orbit with laboratories in them. These stations were always planned to be a buffer between "out there" and Earth for our safety.The "stuff" will be collected by robots going into Phobos to collect it and it will be taken to a space station to be analysed before it ever comes down to Earth. If the station has to be blown up then so be it.
Another burning question is who owns the knowledge? Is it the finder, Russia? All space Law has so far related to natural things and not to manufactured items. Is this a salvage job? Liken it all if you will to the investigation of the Titanic. Phobos being the ship and space being the water,
The undersea robotic units being space robotic units. We have had Moon landers and Mars rovers so why not? We now got a whole flying air force of bombing ,killing, observing remotely operated drones here on Earth so in zero gravity they will work better up there.
American agencies are really annoyed that they cannot make the big proclamation as the data is not from their space ships and when it all comes out, as it must do soon, either the Russians or the Europeans will say "We are not alone!!!"
