"Venice was a quiet Mena, Arkansas" says former drug pilot

"Venice was a quiet Mena, Arkansas" says former drug pilot

Small town airports have been used for decades in South Florida and along the southern coast of America for all sorts of shenanigans. Guns and drugs have been moving in and out of them, flying to and from South and Central America.
It is so easy, because these airfields have no control towers in many cases and certainly no night time staff.
Daniel Hopsicker has studied theses events for many many years, writing books, making videos and writing on the web. He really is "the" expert in the shady goings on in these quiet backwaters which have small populations of mainly retired people as residents. However they seem to have huge infrastructure far in excess of the requirements. Just how do these airports pay for their new and upgraded facilities with little landing fee income from very few regular flights?
