The Scheme

A new documentary started on Scottish BBC tonight entitled "The Scheme." It is about the trials and tribulations of families living in a modern housing scheme in todays' society. It centres on a housing scheme in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Really it could be anywhere in the World from the barios of Brazil to the projects of Los Angeles and other American cities to the floating boats of Aberdeen harbour in Hong Kong where some people have never been on dry land.
Personally I thought it was boring. One 20 yr old guy is "laid on" an ounce of cocaine by a dealer at a price of £400. The idea being that he sells it on in gram bags. At £50 a gram, say, he would be making a huge profit and then pays the dealer. He says that he snorted the lot, in one night, along with booze, while out partying. Now, as I understand it, there are six lines to a gram and 28 grams to the ounce. So,according to him. he snorted 168 lines!!! I don't think so. in his wildest dreams. His nose would have been bleeding terribly and he, surely, would have been in hospital, if not dead. No junkie is going to use all pf the product if a huge profit can be made to buy more and more to keep feeding the habit. He could have cleared a £1,000 quid but says he used it all. The participants were all acting and lieing for the camera and in "look at me mode, I'm on the Tellie!" They were saying what the film makers wanted to hear. The dogs stole the show as they don't act.
