Rumour has it that VAT will rise very soon after the election so will it go to 20%. Yep I think it will. But the unpopular VAT issue will be food and children's clothing. Any inclusion of these items within VAT will hurt working families greatly and families on benefit even more. Yep I think it will happen. Benefits have just gone up by pennies per week and will not rise again for a year giving a huge boost to the Treasury of this incoming VAT money.
Pensioners, the sick and disabled will also suffer. People are living longer now but are not all healthy. So the NHS will have to spend more just to stand still! More and more pensioner care is being farmed out either to Local Government or to private firms or both.
I am disabled and have had the "pleasures" of both. The Local Government, via occupational therapy, have been great providing me with amazing equipment for free. I "employed" a private care assistant who was very pleasant, always late and never did a full hour as contracted and paid for. She had, in theory, to leave a client in Paisley(about 5miles away) at the end of an hour and travel to me by public transport to commence her next hour. Fortunately she used her own car. Travel time was "invisible" to the operators so she was supposed to finish and arrive by time machine!!! But I paid for an hour each time. She did not last long!!!!
But we can still order not one but two Aircraft carriers at £11 billion a piece. By the time they are built they will have cost at least double and why do we need them anyway??? Who are we gonna fight in the future where we need to stand off and launch planes at to bomb them? Australia?
In UK the older folk get £250 cold weather payment. I qualify this year. I did without it in the past and was cold then. Why do I suddenly need it when I get over 60 years of age? Another novelty is the Xmas bonus amounting to £10 a year. why do we need it? It must "cost" more than a tenner to administer. Scrap them both.!
We are gonna be in financial difficulties in UK for the next few years but I think we will do better than our near neighbours in Europe. Austerity rules okay!
