It has been showery in Scotland all of this week and this will continue for the next few weeks! Nice,normal and predictable. But the gun madness begins again!!
In Ireland police and off duty soldiers are shot for "religious" & independence reasons in the North of the Island of Ireland. The South is independent and the North remains part of the U.K. The alleged killers of the policemen were caught very quickly. This would not have happened in the past and is a good sign that people just want a peaceful existence. Is that so hard?
In USA and Germany there were two school shooting incidents involving lone gunmen. So sad for the families of the innocents.
On a lighter note. I have been banging on about "freebie adverts" where a silly story is "planted" in the national news and picked up by the world. One clever woman has been the first to open up a closed Woolworths store calling it Wellworths. She got it on the news, well done girl!!!
Woolworths, which originally opened in America and spread world wide, was a high street favorite for cheap and chearful items. They went bust. This lady was Manageress of the store which she has rented and reopened with the paid off staff all reemployed. She says that if folks don't buy a product then she will not re order it. What a wonderful idea !!!!!
Nowadays most chain stores appear to have a job lot of goods for sale in each branch, whether people want them or not. Items which will sell in one area may not sell in all areas. Whatever happened to local market research ??
Anyway I got my car back today just in time for my birthday tomorrow. That just took nearly three months to get it into the repairers who were nominated by the insurance company. This silly system creates a monopoly for the nominee and leaves other garages idol who could be doing the work easily. Waiting lists appear, which is good for the nominated garage, but frustrating for the car owners who know that other competent garages are idol. The other problem is the courtesy car. A repair garage should not be laying out huge sums to buy a fleet of courtesy cars which have to be maintained, taxed and insured. The company should expand into bigger premises and create jobs which will, in turn, generate more income!! Simple.
Do a deal with a hire car firm and save the wasted expense on courtesy cars.
