Man who opened sluice gates and flooded Somerset Levels to protect his home is fined |I would have done exactly the same thing to save my property from being flooded. He was not arrested nor was he charged with a criminal offence. This fine was levied in a Civil court following a private prosecution.
Not only did he save his own home from damage,he sad his immediate neighbours too. Their insurance companies should pay it or they could have a whip round,as it probably saved them a fortune!
