We know that a nuclear attack would have an effect on all things, run my microchips, so that takes care of cars (engine management systems) and other transport. However, as cleverly put out in the Tom cruise War of the Worlds movie, older cars with solenoids and dynamos can be got going.
In any target nuclear attack I would be toast anyway as Faslane nuclear sub base is 30 miles as the birdie flies and it would be a target. In fact the Navy repair and service nuclear shit at a depot in the North of Ayrshire which is about 8/10 miles away.
So excluding nuclear, as basically only Russia,China and America have proper delivery platforms if it came down to an invasion that too is doubtful.
Muslim extremists could come into play should Israel finally force America into a joint venture against Iran. You would be surprised just how much damage that a terrorist telephone engineer or computer programmer could do. But it all comes back to, not a military problem more likely a financial problem.
If America goes bust then the Dollar becomes useless. This will certainly affect the UK and Europe. If the Euro goes bust, this will mainly affect Europe as the US is not in the Euro system, nor is America. So the money changers will be going mad and banks will probably close. With the plethora of debit cards on top of the masses of credit cards out there they might just say to traders to keep going and take note of cards and amounts to be entered and claimed later, when the banks open. It might just work but if banks don't open quickly then trouble begins.
So we must have food and water. Electricity may go off and so freezer food will rot.! Tins of anything, big tin of curry powder and a big bag of rice will provide loads of curries.!! Anything can be curried!!! Even fish and there are loads of fish within 25 miles of me.
I use propane gas for heating. The bottle can also fire up cooking rings if a fire isn't going to start. The heater glow provides good light and I have a big stock of candles from 4/5 hour tea lights up to big ones!! I have a warm sleeping bag and several duvets for comfort. I have two plastic dustbins to collect rain water and boil it as I need it and it rains a lot in Scotland!!
So I got food, water shelter and warmth. Now to defence. Yep I would have got a gun, several if possible, before the events. Humans are lazy and stupid and would rather steal than bother to horde and prepare. So yes. guns!!
