BBC News - UN report: Opium cultivation rising in Burma
As happen in Vietnam the troops in Afghanistan are taking to very cheap opium to get their minds lost in fantasy land. Unfortunately there is very little opium available in the USA and heroin and cocaine are nowhere near the same buzz.
During the Vietnam era dead bodies were returning to USA with packs of heroin along with them. This was found out, which led to the stitched up bodies of the severely wounded being opened up and packets placed in the chest cavities. Afghanistan will be harder to get opium and heroin sent to the USA but carpets are a favourite method.
