Breaking-up Britain? -

Breaking-up Britain? - Features - Al Jazeera English

The sooner that Scotland gains independence the better, as far as I am concerned. In the past, Scotland was an ally of France and when France and England fought wars, Scotland sided with the French. England just had to do something as having wars on two fronts gave logistical problems. So the English invaded in huge numbers and eventually won. The Crowns were united in 1705, but Scotland was allowed to keep her own legal system which causes so much fun today. Most English firms think that English Laws rule their agreements taken out with anyone in Scotland and plainly make contracts and loan agreements as being subject to English Law. This makes them worthless!!!
So Charles Edward Stewart senior and Junior had a go at regaining independence. Junior made it to within 30/40 miles of London, which was ready to surrender!! For some stupid reason he did not push on and actually retreated. This gave London a chance to regroup and fight back. Strange to say that if he had pushed on, then England might be fighting for independence from Scotland just now.
