It will not only be an aircraft carrier. The carrier is at the hub of a fleet of ships, destroyers, cruisers and supply ships which are fanned out in a big radius. The destroyers and cruisers carry cruise missiles and the supply boats will have Marines on board some of them. It is, in fact, a whole carrier fleet quite capable of engaging in Warfare and surviving until support arrives for them. of course you should remember that each fleet will have at least one probably two fully armed nuclear submarines with them too.
All of these ships give a colossal amount of stand back fire power to bombard targets, on the ground, marked out by people already in the theatre of War. they 'paint' targets with a electronic beacon which the incoming missiles home in on and destroy. The painting could easily be done from space, via movable orbiting satellites or if this is deemed to be the weaponising of space, against the non weapon space treaty, then coordinates, at least, can be sorted out of buildings and/or sites of interest.
So we look at Libya mark 2 and another domino falls which will provide Iran with more problems with the Americans next door on the other side of their country now. I wrote, in this blog, while watching the Iraq invasion, live on CNN 24/7, with streaming video coming from across the river from where the bombs were landing, via reporters staying in a safe area hotel, that Iraq was going to be central to the War to end all Wars which has to come eventually, America v China.
logistically speaking Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Israel are great garages to store bombs, guns and fuel in to attack China without continual supplies having to come all the way from USA. Russia had imploded and China is the only other super power left!! So the big match has to come someday unless China buys America before then, of course!!
