Pot also has so many good medical uses which alcohol certainly cannot claim. of course as pot comes from plants, hence pot plants, geddit??? Big pharma can't make any money from it. Hemp is the English name for the Mexican marijuana and the Hemp Act was put before the American Government in 1928, in a move to get hemp banned. It was doomed to fail, as there were too many good uses for hemp, in making paper, ropes, and the hemp oil could lubricate and run engines. America had just formed Aramco in Saudi Arabia, where they had found oil. Of course, hemp grew anywhere and needed little care. so it had to go!!! The word marijuana was substituted in the Act and said to be a Mexican drug. This was done during a late night sitting, when very few were there to actually vote. Nobody read it and just assumed it was an anti drugs thing and voted for it.
