What possible difference can it be if the debt ceiling is raised, They owe $14.3 TRILLION which they can never repay so if that goes to 20 TRILLION it don't make any difference as they will never repay that either !!! The interest added on will never be repayed either, So the arguement comes down to the difference in the amount that they must pay in instalments, to repay all of it.
If they can't meet the part payment then they default. If they default will the folks that they owe call in everything owed??? Doubt it very much. I often wonder what would happen if a country just said, 'get stuffed, I'm paying nothing' Do they then sit round a map and say I want the States of Texas in reparation!!!!
Out come the scissors and Texas gets cut out and given to the folks owed the money.
