I posted my opinion, at the time of his arrest, that it was a manoeuvre to get him out of the running for the French Presidential Elections against Herr. Tea Cozy which he would, more than likely, have won. Now he has lost his position as head of the IMF, who now have the ex Finance Minister of France at the helm.
She, also, could have been ready to stand against the singer's wee man. Has she been moved sideways out of the limelight.? Perhaps she wanted that job in the first place and had been propositioned by the grey shagger in earlier times. Thus revenge. Who knows and to be quite honest I couldn't give a centime about any of it. French politics have always been riddled with ducking and diving, plotting and scheming and more time is wasted by planning all of the subterfuge, than is spent running the Country.
If he is freed and the charges dropped, from whom does he seek reparation? The maid will have nothing and I doubt if the hotel can be held accountable in a criminal case. The Police will claim the Nuremberg Defence, saying that they were only following procedure and his wifie must be rather bored with all of his antics. He resigned from the IMF. However, he may just be offered some severance settlement from them, as a goodwill gesture, to retire on and to stop him claiming constructive dismissal in a tribunal case. You can be sure that lawyers will be queueing up to represent him, as he has some money of his own. Of course, he may, still, have to go through with the rigours of a trial.
It would appear that this maid is hopeless as a witness, which leads me to believe that it was definitely a set up by either outside forces or by her, to try and gain a private brown envelope, stuffed with money, to keep quiet. If in fact,she did it all, then, he may just have a claim against her employer. Vive La France.!!!
