British shipbuilders axed because Poles are 30% cheaper: 300 workers on the Royal Navy's new carriers laid off | Mail Online

It is way past time that Britain forgot about the heavy engineering of the past and shut all big shipyards, steel plants and other heavy engineering works because we just cannot compete. Find something we are good at and expand that for growth. Instead any slight growth that we have made is thrown away subsidising old fossilised industries. Banking, insurance, data processing and call centres are the name of the game now.
Look at India. They have gone call centre mad and their computer techies are about the best in the World.
