Well the forward base, Afghanistan, ain't going too well for a war with china in the near future so they have to go somewhere.!
Recently, U2 spy planes have been based there. They fly over Iraq and Afghanistan with cameras so sensitive that day 1 against day 2 shots of a road side can show earth displacement so it is said. Whether propaganda or not they would not be flying just for the fun of it.
So Guam like the UK becomes one big aircraft carrier !
