Michigan government forces farmers to destroy vast amounts of healthy food while homeless U.S. children and veterans starve - NaturalNews.com
Some people ask why supermarkets scrap perfectly good food because it is at or just past the sell buy date. Well if folks fall ill, using after date food, the supermarket can be sued, even if they give it away for free. The folks, getting the freebies, may hoard a stash for six months later f they can get a big enough supply. My plan..........
Supermarkets should give the food to church groups or charities, to prepare it within a set time,we all know sell by is only a guide, then they can provide meals to the homeless. I suppose Laws would have to come in to ensure that food was used by say 14 days after sell by and stamped 'charity use' to avoid resale. Of course, much could be frozen.I buy special offers and put milk and bread in my freezer.
Instead of waste the Supermarket could 'give to charity' which is tax deductible for them.
