The Law is quite clear. Neither ambulances nor Fire Engines may exceed the speed limits or go through red traffic lights unless they have a police escort. The police are only allowed to speed or go through red lights, if there is a risk to life.Of course,they all break the Law.
Another fallacy is that other road users should move over or stop,to allow emergency vehicles to pass. There is no such Law, it is merely a courtesy.
