Glasgow helicopter accident: Police helicopter crashes through roof of The Clutha music venue
Why are helicopters involved in so many crashes in Scotland ??? Aberdeen has had many accidents with helicopters going to and fro North sea oil platforms. I thought that possibly the salt from the sea was being corrosive and causing these crashes.
Now we have one in the centre of Glasgow. There is a helicopter site on the banks of the River Clyde which I assume that this one was heading for. 1030 to 1100 is shift change time for Glasgow police. Helicopters rarely fly at night and so it would be the end of the day for this
one.
I suppose that if the pilot had any choice,a flat roof would be better than the main street where cars and people would certainly be moving about. The roof, obviously, was not strong enough to take the weight.
