Thousands dying of thirst on NHS: Watchdog forced to issue guidelines on giving patients water |

I have been in hospital, quite a few times, over the past twenty years and at no time was I ever asked if I wanted a drink. It was always up to me to either get one, myself, or get somebody,be it a patient a staff member or a visitor, to give me one. Why should staff have to figure out who is and who is not drinking, if they are fit or lucid enough to organise a drink for themselves?
When they should be getting people drinks is when they are delirious or physically unable to do so,
on their own
