As far as I am aware there has only been one case in Scotland related to downloading. A nurse,living in Ayrshire, downloaded music and burned to disc playlists of pop, country & western,easy listening and so on. Initially, she did it for friends,then began selling to co workers and was caught selling on a commercial bass to pubs and clubs in her area.
The Performing Rights Society and others raised a complaint and a prosecution was brought under copyright laws, NOT for downloading from a site.She got a non custodial sentence.
