Both USA and Canada move gazzillions of tonnes of freight by rail. However neither the rolling stock nor the rails seem to be up to the job and in dire need of being updated.We have two crashes in USA. One in Tennessee from which over 1,000 residents have had to be moved and another in California which has started a brush fire.There seems to be a lick it and stick a bandaid on it attitude, to keep freight moving and invoices flying out of the printers.I do not believe that weight distribution is looked at on these long long trains. They just move the main train from hub to hub and tack on to the end another line of freight cars. Then they criss cross the countires from Coast to Coast.
