Probably submarine oil pushed out a torpedo tube !! If oil has floated to the surface, from th plane, then why have no other bits and pieces also done so?? It would be a very hard landing if the plane hit the water. Even if it was not under power, you still have the weight of the plane falling at gravitational speed.
Some bits would certainly have broken off.
