'Work for your dole': New blitz will see thousands of jobless doing community work for their benefits | Mail Online

I have never understood why an unemployed person, who has signed on for benefit, for more than a year, is not asked to do some work. Plenty of elderly and disabled people need some painting or gardening done for them. That work does not require any great skill. They could be paid £10 extra for the work and it would keep them out of bed!!!
Why anyone is happy receiving £60 per week over a long period instead of a wage is hard for me to understand. Many, of course, are window cleaners or are out working casual, somewhere, which is why they don't want regular work.
