Guide to driving abroad - Telegraph
In the UK, we drive on the left hand side of the road. This came about from the early rough track roads, traversed on horseback. When to mounted men met, coming in opposite directions, they always passed each other, on their left hand side of the track.
Their swords were on their right hip and cross drawn with the left hand. The horse being controlled with the right hand. So each rider could swivel and lunge across having drawn his sword or later pistol. Many countries drive on the right. Here are some I remember...............
Japan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, all British Caribbean islands and all other British islands including New Zealand, Falklands and Australia, Butan.Malta, Gibraltar,Eire, Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe Any more???
