Why not?  Not all German troops were bad people and they should be honoured. Just because they were on the losing side in two Wars really should not matter.
Look at the Americans. They celebrate, despite the fact that they have never won a War, with the exception of their Civil War in which American fought American.The British had help in WW1 and WW2. You have to go well back in history, to find a War that the British won. Perhaps the Boer War, in South Africa? However, the British hold Remembrance Sunday commemorations every year for all of the British war dead.
