Over a Million Credit Cards Compromised —

Over a Million Credit Cards Compromised — Morning Business Report - ABC

Yo may find this to be a silly question.   Is anyone's credit card details still a secret.  This one shows another million which has followed dozens of similar reports. Never mind the credit card firms, other firms are being entered, where you regularly pay to play games. Look at Sony!!!
These cards are a joke. Websites exist where you can download details for a little as £2 per unit. As I have posted many times, getting cards in the UK is extremely easy. You just rent a flat, put six names on the Voters Roll and fill in the forms or apply online. You state that you are separating, prior to divorce and give a previous good address that you get in the phone book.
In the UK we have an independent legal system, in Scotland, from the rest of the UK. All of these card agreements are made under English common law which has no power in Scotland. So if a person defaults, an English firm can't just send in the bailiffs as they do in England. They must employ a lawyer, in England, who then employs a lawyer, in Scotland, to take a person to Court. The fees involved mean that they just don't bother and sell on the debt to collection agents, who are in the same boat. You might say that if a person is taken to Court, then expenses can be added on.However anyone can declare bankruptcy prior to going to Court and the appearance is then cancelled.
Now to set up a scheme to deliberately do this is fraud but if your circumstances change and you cannot pay you do have options, in Scotland The fees are amazing high and it is easy to just sell the debt. After all, the firms are insured and in addition, any loses that the suffer are wholly tax deductible in the trading year following the year of loss. The rates are so high because the people who are paying the firms are actually paying other people's defaults. In addition to all this, most firm's security is obviously rubbish. If you get a credit card you may as well take out an advert in the paper.
