Why don't other countries open 24 hours a day? As the time draws near for people to stop drinking, due to time constraints, they tend to drink faster and order more each time as the witching hour approaches.
If you plan ahead it is just possible to drink 24 hours a day in the West of Scotland. Pubs close at 0100 hrs and discos go on, in cities, until 0300. Then, with membership, you pop over to a casino or try to get signed in to a student Union, to get another hour in until 0400 hrs. It then becomes tricky.
However the Press clubs in Glasgow/Edinburgh/Aberdeen are open all night and someone will always sign you in for the price of a large drink!. Pubs near fruit markets and fish markets open about 0700 hr for breakfast and a pint which can take you back to normal opening hours at 1100 hrs.
Saturday into Sunday can be awkward too. Pubs don't open on Sunday until 1230 hrs However if you live or head to a tourist zone like Ayrshire they open at 0930 for a 1000 hrs start everyday.!! So it can be done.
