Content and folks who are allowed to join are heavily censored by and at the whim of, the owners of the various Social Networks. Don't expect intelligent comment, discussions or news as all are marginalised by the owners who just want yooooth to buy the stuff that they advertise. They they increase their revenue, proportionally, as their advertisers expand.
The whole thing will grow, organically, as people just never leave and become more and more dependent on facebook, etc., for running their lives. Independent thought will disappear as people wish not to offend their peer group by being politically incorrect for instance. Little cells of the like minded appear, where people join a cause. If it is not happening already, this 'cause' thing will be more and more pushed to 'train' and 'control' people. They will feel outsiders if their peer group support a cause which they don't or vice versa. They will become afraid to disagree.This will cancel debate, completely.
