Police crack down on ‘troublemakers’ as royal wedding nears

Why did they not just jump on the Ducatti and go to Gretna? Police are now involved in opening street lights up to check inside them, lifting manhole covers and having them welded shut, trying to trace people who may demonstrate. All this at the expense of detection and prevention of crimes.
The Royals say that they want to move into a modern World so what would have been better than a 'normal' wedding? I have seen Queen Juliana riding a bike in Amsterdam. Sure, she had minders, but she was just out shopping, unmolested. She waved when people shouted 'hello' but most didn't recognise her. I had to ask, 'who's that?'
Phil the Greek nipped about London in his own black hackney cab for many years and the younger males now have motorbikes and some anonimity with full face helmets. Will the bike be the first thing to go, I wonder? Perhaps they could have one of Granny's helicopters and a landing pad, after all Wills can now drive one. He could drop Kate at the London helipad on the Thames and then fly on to work. Much quicker than by road.
