The E. U. is fast becoming a very bad joke. Touted as the forerunner of World Government when in later years they would rule over Europa Region.It is all very George Orwell in structure and you begin to think that the book 1984 has become the template to be attained.
I can remember, in my teens, thinking that all of these Governments cost lots of money, so why not have just one to make savings which could be spent on better causes. Very altruistic of me. I got my first voting card and really delved into the whole thing. In the West of Scotland people were very pro Labour because of Mining in Ayrshire and Lanarkshire. Heavy engineering and ship building. Yes it was a while ago. There is little or nothing left of it all now. However people still vote for labour in droves. I seriously doubt if many could name a few candidates in the coming Elections but they will vote for labour anyway.
I voted when I was 18 and never ever voted again after that with the exception of voting against joining the EEC as it then was called. My anti labour vote was just like pissing in the wind, so why bother. this is the view of many others which is why they keep on winning in Scotland. It has been my view for many years that every person should have to cast their vote by Law. In that way a proper view of the way that an electorate feels would become very apparent. Of course, it won't happen as labour are quite happy 'winning' seats where the majority of potential voters just don't vote.
Hopefully P.R. will arrive and more coalitions will evolve. It worked during WW2 and so in these hard financial times it is surely better to spend money for the benefit of the people rather than wasting billions undoing whatever has been put in place by a previous Government. Take the best people to run the country, no matter what their politics and put the Great back into Britain.
